More Politically Correct Insanity

By Dale Glading | The Save Jersey Blog

The idiocy and illogic of political correctness has reached new heights, Save Jerseyans.

Last week, the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie FL played host to the 27th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, won by BethPolitical Correctnessune-Cookman University’s men’s and women’s teams. Which begs the question: why do we need a collegiate golf championship limited to minority players only?

Can you imagine the public uproar if a collegiate golf tournament – or any tournament, for that matter – was limited to just white golfers?

Conversely, USA Today just ran an editorial calling for the Boy Scouts of America to not only admit gay scouts and scoutmasters, but also atheists – despite the BSA being founded on the twin principles of God and country. The paper stipulates that people can be good without God and so, atheists should be allowed membership in an organization that promotes moral behavior.

However, even though I personally disagree with that premise, that’s not the point in question. The issue is whether a private organization has the right to establish its own membership criteria.

So, let me get this right. According to the libs, it’s O.K. to hold a racially segregated golf tournament for students who attend publicly funded educational institutions, but not for a private organization to write and maintain its own membership criteria?

What a double standard!

True racial equality will only occur when we quit making race an issue at all. Stop all the social engineering and put an end to quotas and other set-asides.

Government’s job is to provide an equal playing field for everyone regardless of race, creed, age or gender – at which point Uncle Sam should step away and let the chips fall where they may. Let those individuals who are willing to educate themselves, take entrepreneurial risks and work hard rise to the head of the class.

And while we’re at it, stop interfering with the rights of private organizations to set and maintain their own membership criteria.
