It went from bad to worse for Babs Buono today in Asbury Park, Save Jerseyans. She reportedly received no one-on-one time with President Obama during his visit to the Jersey Shore.
Ouch! That one stings. From the official media pool report (h/t Weekly Standard):
A senior admin official says that Barbara Buono, a Democrat running for NJ governor, was part of a group of approximately 30 state and local officials who met briefly with Obama before his speech in Asbury Park today. There were both Democrats and Republicans among the state/local electeds present. There was a photo line but no separate meeting.
But oh, it gets better! Our friends over at MMM cite a source reporting that the President didn’t even know who she was and that Buono had to weather the indignity of introducing herself to her party’s top dog. Double ouch! I can guarantee you that he knows Terry McAuliffe. Guess we know where the DNC/DGA money is going this fall…
Of course President Obama isn’t alone; the latest polling shows up to 80% of New Jersey voters not recognizing Buono or knowing enough to form an opinion. Hence, why her campaign couldn’t resist its staffers’ regrettable impulse to run those horrendous Buono/Bono name recognition ads.
