In the race to capture Barbara Buono’s open LD18 state senate seat, Save Jerseyans, GOP challenger Mayor David Stahl (R-East Brunswick) is off to a very strong start.
His campaign released figures on Friday afternoon showing Stahl with a 2-to-1 cash on hand advantage over the presumptive Democrat nominee to replace Buono, Asm. Peter Barnes; for those of you who unfortunately learned mathematics in an Abbott District, 2-to-1 translates to this much:
Stahl for Senate: $87,321.68
Stahl, Bengivenga and Goldhamer Joint Account: $34,525.00
Total Cash on Hand (GOP): $121,846.68
Barnes for Senate Election Fund: $65,588.24
Barnes, Diegnan and Pinkin Joint Account: N/A
Total Cash on Hand: $65,588.24
The Mayor believes his early fundraising success is indicative of momentum. “I am pleased with the outpouring of support I have received since my announcement,” said Stahl.
As the Mayor of East Brunswick, I worked with members of both parties to cut spending, freeze the government payroll and lower property taxes. Our supporters have made it clear that they are looking for that same across the aisle leadership in Trenton to provide property tax relief and good-paying jobs to middle-class residents across Middlesex County.”
