Double-Dipper Update

OK, make that 18 double-dipping NJ state lawmakers

By Mark Lagerkvist | New Jersey Watchdog

NJSealEyeThanks to a tip from an astute reader, New Jersey Watchdog has identified an 18th state legislator who receives a public pension in addition to her salary.

Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce, R-Parsippany, collects a $55,872 in state retirement benefits plus $49,000 a year in legislative pay.  She retired as deputy commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs last year to succeed her late husband in the Assembly.

DeCroce lumped her state salary and pension together as a single income on her annual financial disclosure statement, obscuring the fact she draws retirement benefits.

New Jersey Watchdog’s original story on double-dipping lawmakers has been updated to include this information.
