I’ll never forget eating a piece of the giant and elaborate New Jersey cake prepared by the “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro at Governor Christie’s January 2010 inaugural bash.
The success of Buddy’s over 100 year old family business, Carlo’s Bakery of Hoboken, epitomizes the importance of small businesses to New Jersey’s economy. The Garden State is home to approximately 800,000 small businesses which constitute 98.4% of New Jersey employers as well as roughly half of the statewide private sector labor force, or just shy of 2 million citizens.
With that knowledge, it’s not too surprising to see Buddy serve as statewide chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses that endorsed Governor Christie’s reelection bid on Thursday afternoon.
“Governor Christie has kept his promise to remain committed to improving our state’s economic climate throughout the past three and a half years. By cutting taxes and red tape, getting our state budget under control without raising taxes, and fighting for real, effective tax relief, this Governor has created an environment in New Jersey that gives small businesses a chance to thrive,” said Buddy Valastro in a NFIB press release. “I am honored to stand with the Governor in his campaign by serving as Chairman of the Small Business for Christie coalition and to signal the support of small business owners across New Jersey for this Governor.”
Chris Christie has earned a lot of endorsements this cycle, Save Jerseyans, but you might say that this one is the icing on the cake? Don’t worry… I won’t quit my day job…
The only decent Jersey show. Gotta love Buddy. I wonder who the morons on the other Jersey shows would endorse.
