No Expiration Date on Blame Bush BS

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Bush, Obama and ClintonI woke up this morning and watch a little Meet the Press, Save Jerseyans, which was my first mistake.

Long-time McCain backer Bill Kristol and (R) and former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs (D) agreed that Obama’s desired Syrian strikes were the right thing to do; neither man could articulate what a hypothetical strike could/should/would accomplish other than tangibly demonstrating that we disagreed with the military use of chemical weapons.

The Pope accomplished the same thing today without launching a single smart bomb or tomahawk cruise missile. So if we’re not trying to accomplish a military or diplomatic end, then what the hell is the point? And why go to Congress for an authorization after the Administration very explicitly declared that they did not think such a move was legally necessary?

As always with the Obama White House, Save Jerseyans, these latest decisions are purely the product of political calculation.

And as much as I respect the former, no one but the most hardened “neoconservatives” like Bill Kristol or the most ardent Obama loyalists like Robert Gibbs supports intervention in Syria. It’s rare to find suck unanimity in modern American politics, but a recent public poll showed support for a strike languishing in the single-digit range. Desperate to salvage a bad situation, Obama will now kick the bucket to Congress, allow the Hill to inherit a mess engendered by the President’s incompetence, and then send his surrogates on shows like Meet the Press to yet again blame George W. Bush and the second Iraq War for this diplomatic impasse.

Yawn…

Apparently there’s still no expiration date on Obama blaming Bush for absolutely everything and anything that doesn’t go his way. For a “dumb” guy, Dubya certainly laid a perfect trap, didn’t he?

The claim is baseless. The Iraq War’s shadow didn’t stop Western Europe’s powers from running head-long into Libya only a short time ago… before they ran out of munitions in one of the most embarrassing military displays… well, ever. History will adequately lay blame for what is looking like a massive Russian moral and strategic victory at the feet of the West’s current leaders.

Dubya acted “unilaterally” with 48 allied nations to invade Iraq. How many countries are willing to support the Obama Administration’s military adventure?

Again, let the Meet the Press Washington establishment say what they will. The day will come when the Obama Administration meets historians and is judge accordingly.
