A loyal (and bored) long-time Save Jerseyan decided to do a little research on the Facebook presence of our state’s esteemed members of the General Assembly, folks, and subsequently shared the results with your Blogger-in-Chief.

It’s 2014 and Facebook has been a “thing” for quite some time now. So you might imagine that our elected leaders in Trenton would have a significant Facebook presence by now… right?

Wrong.

Here are the top 5 most “liked members”:

1.       Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly NJ-35 (D) – 6,138

2.       Assemblyman John Wisniewski NJ-19 (D) – 5,550

3.       Assemblyman Raj Mukherji NJ-33 (D) – 5,532

4.       Assemblyman Chris Brown NJ-02 (R) – 2,700

5.       Assemblyman Jay Webber NJ-26 (R) – 2,318

Kudos to Assemblyman Chris Brown who leads the Assembly Republicans with most “likes,” with an honorable mention to our friend Jay Webber at #2. Brown’s accomplishment is particularly impressive for a second-term legislator to claim.

Some of the least “liked” members that weren’t newly-elected this past cycle?

1. Assemblyman Craig Coughlin NJ-19 (D) – 98

2. Assemblyman Jerry Green NJ-22 (D) – 141

3. Assemblywoman Amy Handlin NJ-13 (R) -145

If there’s one thing that’s been reinforced for me from this mini-social media survey, Save Jerseyans, it’s the fact that more New Jersey Republicans need to approach Facebook with the same seriousness as Asm. Chris Brown.

Acknowledging its existence is a nice starting point…

And one more thing: don’t forget to CLICK HERE and like Save Jersey; we’re chugging along with 3,200 strong and growing.

  1. Actually, we as conservatives should be quite jealous of electronic footprints like that. It is one way to send a message. We ourselves need a bigger foot print.

  2. Is there a question and answer forum set up? As I have many questions on where and what you support. Thank you.

  3. I think that Atlantic City’s future needs more hope than the Governors 5 year plan. It needs the elimination of the AC Expressway tolls and the parking fees in AC.
