Christie: Go Write Your Own Story

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Flanked by fair weather legislative allies Steve Sweeney and Donald Norcross on a less-than-beautiful May day, Governor Chris Christie delivered the 2014 Rowan University commencement address on Friday and shared a simple but powerful message with graduates of South Jersey’s largest institution of higher learning… about his grandmother.

  1. I was there. Daughter was Magna cum Laude in English and Education (2 degrees), and with Kappa Delta Pi honors.

He did well. What was missed was a 17M plus fee associated with the growth that he was talking about. We’re coming to fix that, too.

    July.

He wisely chose to speak from the “other” venue. The graduating teachers were politely silent and reserved as he spoke by video.

His story was as those of many NJ immigrant families. He showed he has much to thank his grandmother for…I’m sure she would be proud of most all he has done – but wonder if the spalletta would have come out over some things the press continues to ignore. I doubt she would have tolerated such shenanigans.

The greatest message of the day was in the symbolism of the College of Education Gonfalon (There’s a scrabble word for you), and in the charge the students were given by the Marshall, who celebrated his 50th year as member of Glassboro cum Rowan faculty – one of my daughter’s personal favorites, also.

    Writing about it, now.

    To all the graduates…
