In what can’t be interpreted as anything other than a blow to the power of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Save Jerseyans, the Garden State’s own Frank Pallone (D, NJ-06) has triumphed in his fight to become the top ranking Democrat on the influential House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Haven’t been following along?
Pallone’s opponent Anna Eshoo, of California, was backed by Pelosi. The race gained some mainstream media attention as of late not just because the position will hold very significant weight if/when the Dems eventually recapture the House (everything cycles eventually, right?), but also due to the fact that Pelosi’s faction went full-hypocrite by telling a pregnant and war injury-disabled veteran, Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, a Pallone ally, that she could not participate remotely.
I’m told the final vote was 100 for Pallone and 90 for Eshoo.
Eshoo had prevailed on Tuesday when the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee recommended her for the spot, 30-19, but Wednesday’s vote of the reduced Democratic caucus was conducted by secret ballot.
I’m not a fan of Pallone, but I am less of a fan of Pelosi. Kind of like rooting for the Giants against the Cowboys.
Wow. I’m happy for Frank Pallone? This feels weird.
@Joe Could’ve have said it better myself!
Really? So he is good for something
