Raising taxes? Or tackling costs?
When you’re paying the highest cost for road maintenance per mile in the nation, Save Jerseyans, the answer is obvious everywhere save for those who spend their time (and make their money) in Trenton.

This has been around for awhile – the costs and the prevailing wage. The official answer is straight out of the Japanese govt playbook – we are a special case with special circumstances.
Not to defend the prevailing wage and other wasteful union practices, but there are objective reasons why the costs are so high.
1) We are a transportation hub for New York City traffic.
2) We have the highest population density in the country.
3) Our weather pattern rotates between frost, rain and inferno.
Don’t forget that we pay to have uitlity lines moved!
