VIDEO: O’Scanlon rails against passed pension amendment that ‘sets state up for failure’

ACR109 passed the General Assembly today with 50 YEA votes and 25 NO votes plus 2 abstentions, Save Jerseyans.

If passed by the state senate later week, New Jersey voters will decide this November whether to amend the state constitution to require a minimum annual 25% contribution to the public pension systems by August 1st, 50% by November 1st, 75% by February 1st and 100% by May 1st.

Full payments must be made by July 1, 2021.

Assembly Budget Officer Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth), who pitched an alternative plan with a so-called “safety valve” built into it, didn’t let the vote proceed without comment:
