Bergen GOP brings in Bernie Kerik for fundraiser

HACKENSACK, N.J. — Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerick has led a roller coaster existence.

The Newark, New Jersey native went from being George W. Bush’s Homeland Security Secretary nominee in 2004 to a federal prisoner in 2010,  having plead guilty to 8 charges including tax fraud and false statements. An epic fall from grace and approximately 3 1/2 years in prison turned him into a crusader for criminal justice reform.

His next role?

Fundraiser for the resurgent Bergen County Republican Organization (BCRO) headed by newly-minted Chairman Paul DiGaetano.

DiGaetano and NJGOP State Chairman Sam Raia are co-hosting an event headlined by Kerik  (a talk concerning “The 15th Anniversary of 9/11/01: Terrorism, Here and Abroad”) on Tuesday, September 20th at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack. Tickets are going for $60 per person and include a full breakfast buffet.
