REPORT: Christie Thinks He’s Headed to D.C. After All

Despite his many protestations that he’s staying put for the long haul, Save Jerseyans, the NY Post reports this weekend that Chris Christie’s staff is hearing a very different account.

He’s allegedly telling staff that he’s joining the Trump Administration…. eventually.

“Trump told him to be patient,” the NY Post‘s source reportedly said. “Christie will only take something where he is answerable to the president.”

You can read the full story here.

Where he’d land is a source of much speculation….

The President had said he would find something for Christie in the end, but transition clashes (e.g. the Kushner feud) and the long shadow of Bridgegate have served as an impediment for the formal national GOP rockstar whose New Jersey approval rating languishes in the 20-something percent range as he plays out his final year as governor.

Christie’s departure for a hypothetical D.C. job would not just introduce a change agent to Trump World but also shake up the New Jersey political universe, catapulting 2017 GOP front runner and incumbent Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno into the governorship and changing that race’s dynamic overnight.
