It was an objectively solid night for Jack Ciattarelli, Save Jerseyans.
The Republican gubernatorial primary candidate carried the Mercer County convention, 67 votes to 31 for Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno (+ 3 for Joe Rullo and one non-vote), securing that county’s line which included populous (and Republican) Hamilton Township.
Meanwhile, in Middlesex County, Ciattarelli won the screening committee’s deliberations (36 to 22) after two votes, falling only 1% short of the threshold for a formal recommendation ahead of the March 25th convention.
The LD16 Assemblyman’s district takes in towns from both counties.
Ciattarelli now has two lines officially — Somerset and Mercer — with Middlesex clearly in play.
Guadagno has seven: Camden, Cape May, Hudson, Ocean, Passaic, Salem and Warren counties are in the bag.
