One of this spring’s surprise primary contests?
LD12, where veteran State Senator Sam Thompson (who first went to Trenton back in 1998) is receiving a strong challenge from Old Bridge GOP Chairman Art Haney who, for his part, is backed up by Burlington County GOP power broker Bill Layton.
Haney has the Burlco line but Thompson is ahead at least on paper since the Monmouth and Ocean portions of his district have fallen in behind him. Whether Haney wins Middlesex’s Saturday March 25th open convention (and the line that goes along with it) could prove decisive.
