CWA-NJ directs its members to dime out lame duck Christie appointees

“Lame duck” appointments aren’t unusual for departing governors even as his or her successor works through the transition phase, Save Jerseyans, but New Jersey’s branch of Communications Workers of America (AFL-CIO) is apparently determined to impede any Chris Christie holdouts from holding on a single second longer than their boss (whose term ends January 16th).

In fact, New Jersey’s largest public sector union is equating Christie appointees to… terrorists?

Sort of! Check out what they recently posted on Facebook:

You probably remember that ‘See Something, Say Something’ is a phrase that became popularized beginning in 2002, following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, when New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) hired a firm that came up with an advertising campaign based on the slog “If you see something, say something.”

“It’s lame duck for Christie and we know political appointees and hacks will be shuffled and shoved in to various departments. See something suspicious? Let us know at our Lame Duck Tip Line http://cwanj.org/lameduck” the Facebook post reads.

“Tell us if political appointees are being moved or promoted into permanent positions or if anyone is pushing through any quickie contracts, and we will get to the bottom of it. If you prefer to send us an anonymous tip, email us at njvolunteer@cwa-union.org,” the union added.

I wonder if Allen Kay (the guy who came up with the “see something” slogan) is entitled to royalties?

CWA New Jersey’s sizable fold includes 30,000+ state workers and approximately 15,000 county and municipal workers. Most of them can rest easily because I’m willing to bet that Governor Christie retained more Democrats in his administration than many (if not all) of his GOP predecessors.
