MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The 30-year old Montville conservative burst onto the Morris County political scene in his 20s, defeating an incumbent of his own party after a protracted legal battle and joining the freeholder board in 2012.
Five years later? Hank Lyon fell in a hard-fought LD26 Assembly primary.
Now he’s back in 2018 with designs to reclaim his old post on the Morris freeholder board.
According to his supporters, Lyon is poised to announce a 2018 campaign with allies Deborah Smith, an incumbent, and John Krickus, a fellow alumnus of the board.
Another incumbent, Christine Myers, is heading to the Trump Administration.
That leaves Freeholder John Cesaro who may run as a lone wolf in the battle for three seats outside of the reported Smith-Krickus-Lyon ticket.
Morris County Republicans do not have a “line” for their primaries.
