N.J. Democrats are enacting automatic voter registration for discharged parolees, welfare recipients

TRENTON, N.J. — A government for everyone except those who play by the rules? And pay the bills?

With stunning speed, New Jersey Democrats moved on Thursday to automatically register state residents to vote at not only Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) offices but also other highly-trafficked state government agencies including (1) welfare offices and even (2) the parole board.

The so-called “motor voter” bill’s dramatic changed cleared the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee (without comment) as well as the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Today’s surprise expansion of the original legislation stands as one of the most egregious abuses of power to date since Democrats’ consolidated their absolute control of Trenton, and New Jersey state government, in the 2017 election.

Newly-minted Governor Phil Murphy, also a Democrat, is expected to sign the legislation when it reaches his desk after a full vote of both legislative houses.

In a separate push, some leading Democrats are also supportive of a plan to enfranchise incarcerated felons including pedophiles and murderers.
