MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin is running for federal office this cycle but, like GOP House nominee Jay Webber in NJ-11, he’s making Phil Murphy and his party’s mismanagement of New Jersey’s finances a central theme of his campaign.
Starting today, Hugin — a former pharmaceutical executive who a May poll found is in striking distance of incumbent Bob Menendez — is planning to host a series of round table events focusing on decidedly state issues: affordability generally and the budget impasse which may end in a shutdown in a matter of days.
“I hear from people everyday who are increasingly concerned about affordability and being able to stay in New Jersey,” said Hugin. “Raising taxes is absolutely the wrong direction for our state. New Jerseyans are taxed enough already, making our state inhospitable to business and forcing millennials, seniors, and working families to leave because they simply can’t afford it anymore.”
