Comrade Booker: Ban Bank Overdraft Fees!

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-New Jersey Twitter) is continuing his hard-left march, Save Jerseyans, coming out this week against bank overdraft fees.

“Imagine this scenario for a moment: you’re in town buying a couple of items at the store, then you go buy lunch, and then you fill up your tank with gas,” said Booker in a Friday email blast to supporters. “The problem is your paycheck is posted a day late, and you don’t have enough funds in your account for all of these purchases. Despite your best efforts, your bank just charged you three $35 overdraft charges — that’s over $100 of your hard-earned money out of your pocket and into your bank’s, all without your knowledge at the time of purchase.”

Senator Booker’s “Stop Overdraft Profiteering Act of 2018,” co-sponsored with Ohio’s Sherrod Brown, would impose a series of new regulations on banking institutions including a prohibition on charging overdraft fees on both debit card transactions and ATM cash withdrawals.

Booker is widely expected to run for president in 2020.

Neither Booker nor Brown supported the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 which would’ve put more money into the paychecks of both men’s respective states’ residents including roughly 80% of New Jerseyans.
