Schepisi: Love or loathe Trump, Americans should be “relieved that our President was not a secret Russian operative”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump did not collude with Russia, nor did his campaign. And there is no evidence of obstruction of justice by Trump or his inner circle.

Those are the initial bombshell revelations gleaned from Sunday’s summary release of special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s probe into alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“In cataloguing the President’s actions, many of which took place in public view, the report identifies no actions that, in our judgment, constitute obstructive conduct, had a nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding, and were done with corrupt intent, each of which, under the Department’s principles of federal prosecution guiding charging decisions, would need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to establish an obstruction-of-justice offense,” Attorney General William Barr explained in his 4-page letter.

Reactions are coming in fast and furious from both sides of the political divide, with Republicans declaring “I told you so” and Democrats insisting “it” (meaning their endless investigations of the Trump Administration) is far from over.

New Jersey Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R-39) took to social media on Sunday night to put things in perspective.

“Regardless of whether you voted for him or not, whether you love him or loathe him as a President, as an American every single person who claims to care about our country should be relieved that our President was not a secret Russian operative or willing to collude with a foreign oftentimes hostile government to unlawfully win an election. Put aside your hatred of him for a day and take comfort in that fact,” said Schepisi.
