WESTFIELD, N.J. – Republican State Senate Leader Tom Kean Jr. will announce his candidacy for Congress on April 16th.
Kean’s long-expected announcement, teased by his exploratory committee in a Monday e-mail, is scheduled for next Tuesday evening in Clark, New Jersey.

Son of former Governor Tom Kean and a state senator representing LD21, Kean is the front runner for the Republican nomination to challenge freshman Democrat Tom Malinowski in NJ-7 next year.
Malinowski defeated incumbent Leonard Lance in November 2018.
Kean may face a primary in June 2020; among the possible challengers is Rosemary Becchi, a tax attorney and leader of the Jersey First non-profit organization.
