NJ-07: Malinowski takes a nap during event honoring WWII veteran

FLEMINGTON, NJ – Congressman Andy Kim’s failure to salute the American flag at a Memorial Day ceremony was apparently only one example of less-than-respective behavior by the state’s House Democrat delegation.

On Tuesday, the NJGOP called out Kim’s colleague Tom Malinowski (D, NJ-07) for appearing to doze off at a ceremony honoring World War II veteran Archie Fagan hosted at the Flemington Jewish Community Center.

“Archie Fagan in a WWII veteran, hero and staple of the community in Hunterdon County. He talked about still having nightmares about liberating Dachau,” said NJGOP Executive Director Theresa Winegar. “We wish our Congressman, Tom Malinowski, would have had the respect to stay awake for the ceremony honoring Archie.”

Fagan survived the Battle of the Bulge in addition to assisting in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. He later serves as a military observer during the post-war Nuremberg trials.

Hunterdon County Freeholder Susan Soloway was also in attendance; the county issued a proclamation in Fagan’s honor.

“I was disappointed to see our Congressman asleep during the presentation,” said Soloway.
