MIAMI, FL – Cory Booker failed to shine in the first 2020 Democrat primary debate on Wednesday evening.
He did try out a little Spanish in an attempt to stand out and pander like a champ, telling the audience “[w]hen people come to this country, they do not leave their humans rights at the border” in response to an immigration-related question:

Unfortunately for Booker, Texas rival Beto O’Rourke’s command of the Spanish language was a bit more on point. Booker’s facial expression said it all (and his viral reaction is likely to be the most memorable part of his debate performance):
