MONMOUTH POLL: Americans oppose impeaching and removing Trump, 51% to 44%

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A new national poll released on Election Day 2019 contains ominous news for the Democrat Party heading into 2020.

According to Monmouth University, 51% of Americans oppose impeaching and removing Donald Trump from office; only 44% support that radical course of action. 59% of those polled agreed with this statement: “if you want Trump out of office, it makes more sense to focus on next year’s election rather than go through an impeachment process now.” 

“Even many who would like to impeach Trump seem to feel that beating him at the polls in 2020 is actually a better strategy for ousting him from office,” said Patrick Murray, the poll’s director.

Meanwhile, overall opinion of the president is characterized less by shifting allegiances than partisans become entrenched in their preexisting opinions…
