Did New Jersey’s Acting Education Commissioner Angelica Allen-McMillan lie during Thursday’s SenateBudget hearing?
For a little context…
State Senator Mike Testa Jr. (R-1) questioned Allen-McMillan on topics including the state’s highly-sexualized curriculum standards. At one point, the acting commissioner denied that “salacious” materials were linked on the state website.
That’s not exactly true as the Senator explained on his Facebook page following the hearing:
During today’s Budget Committee hearing on the Department of Education, I asked the Acting Commissioner about controversial new sex education mandates and a claim by the NJDOE that it does not endorse instructional materials, despite the fact that the department links to dozens of sites and resources for districts to use, including some of the explicit and age-inappropriate lesson plans recently reported in the media.
The Acting Commissioner answered: “The material that has been deemed salacious is not affiliated with the Department of Education. The links that we have on our website do not point to the named links and areas, because we have vetted those ourselves and looked.”
Despite, what she said, the NJDOE does in fact link to Rutgers Answer, which is affiliated with and promotes both AMAZE and Advocates for Youth, the producers of the controversial videos and lesson plans.
“I’d say the Acting Commissioner is busted!” added Testa.
