NJ-05’s three leading GOP candidates produced very different fundraising results in the first quarter of 2022.
The 2020 nominee (Frank Pallotta) raised an underwhelming $38,650 which is what you’d expect to see from a competitive municipal campaign; Pallotta, a finance industry veteran, had $83,216 cash on hand as of March 31st.
Meanwhile, U.S. Marine vet Nick De Gregorio raised a respectable $309,503 and enters the second quarter with $454,466 cash on hand.
The wild card is businessman Fred Schneiderman; the other two candidates have county lines, but Schneiderman – who hired Kellyanne Conway – loaned himself $150,000 and raised another $129,842 bringing his grand Q1 total to $279,842. He has $147,331 left in the tank.
De Gregorio’s cash on hand and possession of the Bergen line (over 80% of the district’s voter pool) makes him the probable favorite on primary day.
