N.J. judiciary blocks all international web traffic

HACKED OFF: Hackers or careless bureaucrats could cause private information to be spilled across the Internet. But the federal government, unlike most states, don’t have to tell users when they have been compromised.

New Jersey’s judicial system is closing itself off to international Internet traffic.

“The Judiciary is blocking all internet traffic from outside the country to ensure the security of our data.  This includes access to all of our websites, applications, and other services,” the courts said in a public statement on Wednesday.  “We are also blocking all email traffic to and from all sites outside the U.S.”

According to a statement obtained by The New Jersey Globe, the move was not inspired by a specific cyber security threat.
