One of the country’s rising star Republican elected officials is coming to New Jersey for an NJGOP fundraiser.
Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears is the headline for this year’s 2022 ‘Woman of the Year’ Reception scheduled for July 21st at Battleground Country Club in Manalapan.
Ticket information is available here.
Sears, who emigrated to the U.S. at age 6 from Jamaica, is Virginia’s first non-white resident to ever hold statewide office. She was elected in 2021 alongside Glenn Youngkin as part of the Republican wave that all swept through New Jersey results in 100+ down-ballot NJGOP victories.
Serving as Virginia’s first black statewide official should’ve been a big deal especially given the Old Dominion’s historic role as the Confederacy’s leading state. But she’s a Republican, Save Jerseyans, so she’s received relatively muted attention from the national press corps.
