It’s a game of inches, Save Jerseyans, but the N.J. GOP continued to cut into the Democrats’ massive statewide voter registration edge last month.
Where things stand:
New Jersey had 2,365,489 unaffiliated voters as of the end of May 2022, a 10,341 increase from April.
Republicans added 1,837 voters (the new total is 1,490,261) while Democrats gained 455 voters bringing their ranks up to 2,508,456.
If May 2022 was in of itself a trend? Democrats would lose their symbolic one million voter advantage at some point in 2023 heading into the next legislative elections.
