N.J. Dems break promise to pick SALT cap fight (then lie about it)

New Jersey’s House Democrats weren’t ambiguous with their rhetoric over the past couple of years, Save Jerseyans:

No deal to remove the  Trump Era $10,000 SALT cap?

To quote Josh Gottheimer (D, NJ-05)? No deal on tax reform…

Now the deceptively-named “Inflation Reducation Act” is about to become law, and it’s inarguable that the Democrat legislation will raise taxes on the American Middle Class. In fact, the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 will see a $1.9 billion increase beginning in 2023 and earners between $100,000 and $200,000 will cumulatively pay $10.8 billion more.

Caught between their promises and their party’s priorities, New Jersey Dems – including Malinowski, the state’s most endangered Democrat – are simply pretending none of it is happening (and hoping you won’t notice).

“As for SALT, my line in the sand remains the same. If someone tries to change the tax rates on families in my District, I will insist that we restore the State and Local Tax Deduction,” Gottheimer said in a statement. “This legislation doesn’t raise taxes on families in my District — it reduces the financial burden on them. For that reason, and for its strong support of the climate, lower prescription drug prices, and job creation, I’ll be voting for it.”

That’s verifiably false, folks. See above.

Similarly, Mikie Sherrill (D, NJ-11) insisted that “this legislation does not raise taxes on families in my district, but in fact significantly lowers their costs, I will be voting for it.”

Again… objectively bullshit. Even Bernie Sanders is on record saying the bill won’t help inflation.

We sadly expect politicians to spin.

This goes beyond spin. This is a coordinated attempt by the Democrat Party’s leadership to fool the American people not unlike 5 minutes ago when they attempted to change the ancient definition of an economic “recession.”

Shameless? Embarrassing? Cowardly? Insulting? Whatever you want to call it, folks, it’s clearly not the representation most voters believed they were voting for.
