Ex-NJGOP Chair Steinhardt elected to State Senate seat

Doug Steinhardt is officially headed to Trenton.

The former NJGOP Chairman was formally chosen by a special convention of LD23 committee members on Saturday to take the State Senate of Mike Doherty. Doherty had resigned back on November 30th to take over as Warren County Surrogate.

Steinhart will take his oath of office on December 19th, and he’ll seek his first full term next November.

In addition to his stint as NJGOP chairman, Steinhardt’s political resume includes two decades as Warren County GOP chairman and an aborted 2021 gubernatorial primary candidacy. He also served as the GOP’s commissioners’ chairman for the recently-concluded congressional redistricting process.
