Joe Biden is running for a second term. And Jill and the Biden family are all in on this.
If you doubt me, go back and watch Biden’s State of the Union Speech from last night once again. You don’t have to watch all of it or even a big chunk of it. I know that would be painful. In fact, even ten minutes of it is painful and horrifying. But watch and listen to some of it and you’ll quickly see that it was a campaign speech. Joe Biden took free air time on nearly every major outlet to make a baldly partisan campaign speech! And no one should be surprised by this.
Biden is an old Irish street fighters. This is who he is. He’s a street corner bully. This is what he does. This is all he knows. So, it doesn’t matter that he’s old and cognitively challenged. In fact, those are just bigger reasons for him to hang on. Because there’s nowhere else for him to go. So, he’ll do whatever he has to do to win. He’ll lie, cheat, swindle, play on the gullibility of people — whatever — but he’s unlikely to give up, even if they have to carry him out of the White House feet first.
Does he care that he was deservedly mocked and booed and jeered last night during the raucous spectacle that he created? Hell, no! He relished it. He has no sense of class or decorum — not now, not ever. He loved the provocations that he launched last night with a steady stream of mendacity. He delights in it.
The man literally has no shame.
And sadly, in our current crass, tawdry environment, these tactics work. So, don’t underestimate his ability to prevail. Be sure of this: the Biden campaign is already underway. The pieces are in place. The Bidens are pitched for battle and they’re aiming to take no prisoners. Scorched earth? The politics of personal destruction? Yeah, it’ll be all that and more. And if the GOP isn’t armed and ready for it (if Republicans are still fighting over crumbs) they’ll get snookered once again.
No matter what the polls say right now, Biden is poised to run again — and win.
