Christie allies launching new PAC as latest poll finds ex-governor at 0%

There’s a sucker born every minute, Save Jerseyans, and some of them are on Team Christie for 2024. According to a new report from the NYT, allies of ex-Governor Chris Christie are launching a super pac ahead of the failed 2016 candidate’s anticipated second bite at the apple this cycle.

Christie will need every penny.

On Tuesday, a new poll from Monmouth University found Christie not only at 0% in the GOP primary, but he’s apparently “the only contender of the ten tested in this poll who gets a net negative score from the Republican electorate.”

Christie’s 21% favorable, 47% unfavorable position is made all the more problematic for the presidential hopeful because he’s also right up there with former Vice President Mike Pence as one of the best known possible candidates. Said another way, opinions of Christie – most of which are negative – might be difficult to change since he’s very well known.

Who would’ve guessed that a campaign message built around recycling television network “Orange Man Bad” talking points wouldn’t take root in a GOP primary?

On the other hand, an optimistic Christie booster may argue that there’s nowhere to go but up? That’s possible at least in terms of his raw primary position. Nationally, Christie is averaging at 1% (per RCP), and he’s also polling at 1% in New Hampshire (where he’s making appearances).
