On Primary Eve, Auth urges N.J. Republican voters to embrace mail-in ballots

New Jerseyans were closing in on one quarter of a million votes cast ahead of Primary Day 2023 as of Monday afternoon; of the 244,411 votes cast, Democrats led 3-to-1 in a state where President Biden’s party enjoys a nearly one million voter statewide registration edge.

The vast majority of early votes (over 220,000) were cast by mail; in this regard, Democrats (32%) and Republicans (28%) were voting at relatively similiar rates in a cycle where there are four competitive GOP districts but only two legitimately interesting Democrats intra-party contests.

Assemblyman Bob Auth (R-39) believes the party faithful need to do better to succeed in November and beyond; he’s not alone as Republican leaders nationally are pushing to change GOP base attitudes on casting mail-in ballots.

“If you haven’t filled out your vote-by-mail ballot and mailed it back, this would be a great time to do it,” Auth tweeted on Primary Even. “Would you like to vote by mail, call my office and we can assist you with getting the process started. Remember, voting by mail is better than not voting. Thank You!”
