The U.S. House of Representatives voted to censure Adam Schiff on Wednesday (213 to 209), and this time Tom Kean Jr. (R, NJ-07) made good on his word to support the California Democrat’s formal reprimand after changes were made.
Kean had joined a sizable number of Republican members who voted against the original version of the censure resolution last week citing constitutional concerns over the multi-million dollar fine which was included as a penalty.
“I am deeply disturbed by the actions of Representative Schiff, which is why I supported his removal from the Intelligence Committee earlier this year. I share the concerns of my fellow Republican colleagues that a multi-million dollar financial penalty included in this resolution raises constitutional issues,” Kean explained at the time. “Without that provision included, I would support censuring Rep. Schiff and referring him to the Ethics Committee for further investigation.”
