With Republicans’ quest to colalesce around a new Speaker of the House at a standstill, Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R, NJ-02) took to X on Thursday afternoon to reiterate his support for Ohio’s Jim Jordan.
“Americans want Jim Jordan for Speaker. I’m with him all the way,” posted Van Drew.
The South Jersey congressman and the Garden State’s two other Republican federal legislators – Chris Smith and Tom Kean Jr. – both backed Jordan on the first and second ballots. Jordan came up short both times as a gaggle of holdouts refused to circle their wagons around the caucus-nominated candidate.

Jordan has backed a plan to empower the temporary speaker until January, but as with seemingly everything else at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be an appetite for any compromise inside the GOP caucus.
Van Drew serves with Jordan on the House Judiciary Committee and enjoys a close working relationship with the chairman.
