Ciattarelli: Murphy’s FY ’25 budget is designed to boost his wife’s “flailing” U.S. Senate campaign

You could guess what was in Phil Murphy’s FY 2025 budget address without even hearing it, Save Jerseyans.

More spending. More regulations. More money leaving taxpayers’ pockets. The overall proposed spending increase over FY 2024 is a whopping $1 billion.

“After working with the business community and legislators on both sides of the aisle to reduce our highest-in-the-nation Corporate Business Tax (CBT), Governor Murphy’s announcement today blindsides our state’s job creators and undermines whatever trust or goodwill that had developed. We are hopeful that the State Legislature does not concur with this plan,” said Garden State Initiative (GSI) President Regina Egea.  “We are already one of the most inhospitable places to do business in the country, and this will only make it worse.”

Republicans were largely critical of the Murphy Administration’s second-to-last budget proposal. Among them, 2025 GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli who suggested the new budget was “about what’s best for Tammy Murphy’s flailing campaign – pandering to liberal Dems who vote in primary elections – and a betrayal of what the Gov promised the state’s business community just weeks ago.”

Tammy Murphy is on a three convention losing streak (Hunterdon, Monmouth and Burlington counties) faced with a stronger-than-expected challenge from Congressman Andy Kim (D, NJ-03).
