Tammy Murphy’s new campaign manager is a perfect fit (in all the wrong ways)

Tammy Murphy’s new campaign manager is, if nothing else, a perfect fit for her new boss’s office culture, Save Jerseyans.

On Wednesday, The New Jersey Globe reported that the First Lady of NJ’s struggling U.S. Senate campaign has enlisted veteran Democrat operative Maggie Moran to serve as its new campaign manager. Moran has a long history in New Jersey politics, most infamously as Jon Corzine’s campaign manager for the then-governor’s ill-fated 2009 reelection contest with Chris Christie.

What’s far more interesting is what happened between the Corzine gig and this latest assignment…

Back in December 2021, The New York Post reported that Moran had resigned from a top public relations firm after evidence surfaced that “she had been aware of disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plans to discredit sexual harassment accusers.”

Maggie Moran, Cuomo’s 2018 reelection campaign manager and a current managing partner at swanky PR firm Kivvit, was in the governor’s mansion in February when accuser Lindsey Boylan published a blog post saying that the then-governor kissed her without her consent and asked her to play strip poker on a taxpayer-funded jet, according to testimony from Cuomo confidante Steve Cohen.

Moran was also included in group messages where other Cuomo staffers and allies plotted how to discredit Boylan and kill news coverage of the governor’s pervy behavior, according to documents recently released by Attorney General Letitia James.

In one February email chain that included Moran, other Cuomo allies discussed how to discredit Boylan’s strip poker claims and drafted a statement that included the line, “there are not even any cards on the plane.” Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa wrote that she was setting up a call with members of the group chat to discuss the draft.

I say that Moran – whose list of former clients/bosses includes not only Andrew Cuomo but also Bill Clinton – is a ‘perfect fit’ for Tammy because both women seem to be bizarrely agnostic towards the plight of other females being abused or neglected by those in authority.

There’s the professional women’s soccer team owned by Phil and Tammy Murphy which was accused of fostering a toxic environment for its all-female roster. More recently, Tammy Murphy was accused in a lawsuit of refusing to permit nursing state troopers guarding her home (!) to pump breast milk during their breaks. Arguably worst of all, then-volunteer (and later an aide to NY Governor Kathy Hochul) Katie Brennan accused Tammy of giving her the cold shoulder when Brennan says she tried to enlist her help after allegedly being sexually assaulted by her husband’s aide. I won’t even lay the Edna Mahan “culture of rape” at her feet because her husband is the governor, but then again, the Murphys regularly present themselves as a team, so perhaps I’m being too generous?

“Tammy Murphy should not be a sitting senator for New Jersey,” Brennan told the NY Post in December 2023.

I don’t know whether Maggie Moran can help Tammy Murphy beat back a challenge from Andy Kim. We’ll know soon enough. What I do know: in Moran, Tammy has found someone with the same jarring level of apathy towards women – often Democrat women – who are being treated like cattle or worse by Democrat men.
