Curtis Bashaw won 14 counties in the nominating convention phase of the U.S. Senate primary, Save Jerseyans, but Morris County stayed loyal to its favorite daughter in the race: Mendham Mayor Christine Glassner.
But on Saturday, the Cape May-based developer won the Morris County Republican Club Alliance Primary Pizza Straw Poll.
“I’m thrilled to receive the support of so many Morris County Republicans who I’ve gotten to know over the past several months,” said Bashaw in a statement. “Republicans up and down the state have made it clear—they are ready to unite and take back this seat from the entrenched DC Democrats who’ve failed New Jersey families, businesses and taxpayers for so many years.”
Unlike Democrats, New Jersey Republicans in most counties (including Morris) still have a “line” this June which gives Bashaw a likely advantage heading into the June primary. The winner of the GOP contest will face presumptive Democrat nominee Andy Kim and possibly and newly “independent” incumbent Bob Menendez in November.
