Here’s a new low for the post-truth era, Save Jerseyans:
The Democrat (Sue Altman) running in New Jersey’s only remaining competitive congressional district is attacking the Republican incumbent (Tom Kean Jr. of NJ-07) for a vote that he didn’t take… because he wasn’t even in Congress at the time.
Ballsy, right? Or evil, depending upon your perspective and political orientation.
Altman cited the “Emergency Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021” to fund the Capitol Police and the National Guard in the wake of the January 6th riot on Capitol Hill; it passed the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021 before Republicans took control of the chamber and over a year before Kean defeated then-Democrat incumbent Tom Malinowski:
.@KeanForCongress is the only candidate in this race that has actually voted to defund the police. Junior, are you ready to debate me yet or are you going to keep hiding from your constituents and distract from your lack of leadership? #FlipNJ7 https://t.co/1bxpagh5Yn

Meanwhile, Altman has a long history of backing the “Defund the Police” movement and receiving the support of individuals and organizations who’ve shared that goal.
