Former Harrison Committeeman Adam Wingate is the new chairman of the Gloucester County Republican Party, defeating incumbent Chairwoman Jacci Vigilante, an attorney, at Monday night’s reorganization meeting.
Wingate’s ultimately successful challenge to Vigilante is only the latest chapter in a bitter intra-party battle that spilled over into the 2023 legislative primaries in districts 3 and 4. He previously ran as a county commissioner candidate on the organizational line but was unsuccessful.
The challenger’s victory comes on the same day that South Jersey Democrat boss George Norcross III was indicted on 13 criminal counts by the New Jersey Attorney General, a development which could ripple into Gloucester which remains under the thumb of Camden machine-affiliated politicians…
