Stock markets plummeted across the globe on Monday morning as lackluster jobs reports and other key economic indicators pointed to an economic downturn. But is it a “recession” in the offing? Or has one already begun?
Heritage Foundation economist E.J. Antoni joined ‘The Matt Rooney Show’ on Sunday evening to discuss the economic dimensions of the market’s turmoil, the root causes of global investors’ fears, whether we’re in a recession or on the cusp of one, and what the next president needs to do to right the ship…
“Right now the data I’m seeing points to a recession either has begun in July or it’s beginning this month of August,” Antoni told Rooney. “So my guess is, when they finally backdate the recession, that’s when they’ll say it started.”
