VIDEO: Van Drew co-hosts offshore wind panel

Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R, NJ-02) co-hosted “an examination into offshore wind industrialization” this week in Brigantine alongside Congressman Scott Perry of Pennsylvania.

A prop consumed much of the attention: a piece of a broken turbine blade from the catestrophic Vineyard Wind project.

“Today at the hearing, we had a piece of the shattered wind turbine from the Nantucket disaster,” Van Drew opined on X. “The fiberglass was so dangerous we were warned not to touch it with bare hands. If we continue down this road, we will have thousands of jagged pieces like this littering our ocean.”

While Orsted’s Ocean Wind project has collapsed, a new development – Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind – would see 200 wind turbines near Atlantic City and Long Beach Island.

“Offshore wind turbines provide zero reliability, increase utility costs, and will devastate our coastal community,” Van Drew added. “So why do they want to raise costs for taxpayers for an energy source that does not work? Because a few greedy people stand to make a whole lot of money.”
