There are a number of reasons why Kamala Harris may be in serious trouble, Save Jerseyans. You can now add the following to the daily-growing list:
Her own nomination may’ve undermined her top talking point.
Consider the results of a brand new I&I/TIPP survey which asked voters whether they agreed OR disagreed with these statements…
- “The process the Democratic Party used to select its nominee for President did not yield the strongest candidate.”
- “The process the Democratic Party used to select Kamala Harris as its nominee was undemocratic.”
- “I lost significant faith in the Democratic Party because it did not disclose Biden’s health issues during the primary process.”
For statement #1, a full 58% either “agree strongly” or “agree somewhat.” Only 32% disagreed
For statement #2, most respondents – 52% to 38% – believe the Democrats’ process was “undemocratic” including 37% of Democrats!
For statement #3, 55% of all voters and over one-third of Democrats (37%) agree that the whole episode caused them to lose faith in the Democrat Party.
Wild, right?
It’s against this backdrop that Kamala Harris, losing ground by almost every objective measure which we can measure, is lazily holding joint appearances with Liz Cheney on the subject of defending democracy.
Can accusing Trump of being a threat to democracy move the needle when MOST voters (including 1 in 3 members of your own party) believe your OWN nomination was an affront to democracy?
I wouldn’t think so, and these legitimate feelings may’ve neutered Kamala’s closing argument before she even had a chance to make it.
