Is Chris Christie readying a run against Cory Booker?

It’s fair to say that Chris Christie and Cory Booker are friends, Save Jerseyans. Maybe not besties, but the notoriously extroverted New Jersey pols have regularly collaborated, hung out, and offered positive commentary on one another at a time when that’s somewhat rare for members of opposite parties in the political arena.

Maybe ambition is about to end all of that?

On Sunday, the former governor appeared for his regular gig on “This Week” with angry dwarf George Stephanopoulos and offered a scathing rebuke of his buddy’s leftward turn in recent cycles.

“So my point to you though, is that what the election proved is that is out of step with the majority of the American people, and Torres is right,” Fatty McThunderbiscuits told the rest of the panel. “And what happened was to — relatively sane people like Cory Booker, who I know incredibly well. You look at Cory Booker as the Mayor of Newark and initially as the United States Senator, before he ran for president in 2020, and this was a moderate, pro-law & order, pro-school choice Democrat. He ran in that primary and went so far left that he came back to New Jersey and people didn’t recognize him. That’s what the party became.”

Christie’s not wrong. Booker went full Leftist nutcase ahead of his U.S. Senate and eventual presidential runs.

Is there a reason why Christie is singling him out?

It might have something to do with the fact that Booker is up for reelection in 2026, the final Trump midterm, and with Trump having just finished a close second in New Jersey this year (an historically-closed 5-point loss), Christie may be eyeing his old buddy’s seat as a comeback opportunity. Crazy? Perhaps! Especially in light of Christie’s super-low approval ratings and the likelihood that Trump voters – and the man himself – won’t support him even against a radical Democrat like Booker. But tell all of that to Larry Hogan who attempted something similar under similarly insane circumstances this cycle…
