Murphy says he and Trump “are actually really good friends”

Donald Trump is discovering all sorts of friends now that he’s been reelected and by a healthy margin.

The Morning Joe hosts visited Mar-a-Lago to kiss the President-elect’s ass. Justin Trudeau flew to Florida to bend the knee. Even New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy – during a University of Virginia event appearance at the end of November – surprised some audience members by disclosing that he’s on relatively good terms with the nation’s top Republican.

“We’re actually really good friend,” Murphy told participants, before adding “as are our wives.”

Governor Murphy and then-President Trump developed a relatively cordial relationship during Covid-19 which included a meal at Bedminster, but the Murphy Administration repeatedly fought Trump’s policy goals and even attempted to revoke his country clubs’ liquor licenses.

Shortly after Trump was election, Murphy pledged to “fight to the death” if necessary to curb Trump’s agenda.
