Need more proof that no one believes the bogus Rutgers-Eagleton poll?
We found out on Wednesday per NBC that the DGA has reserved $20 million in ads across all platforms for the New Jersey gubernatorial race and, in case you don’t have a calendar handy, it’s only early July.
“Greater Garden State, a super PAC backed by the Democratic Governors Association, is spending $20 million on ads on television, digital and streaming platforms, according to an announcement shared first with NBC News,” the network reported. “The ad buy is more than Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and aligned outside groups spent on ads combined in the 2021 general election.”
The only logical reason for a massive early buy: national Democrats believe the race is competitive but are developing low confidence in the Democrat nominee, Mikie Sherrill. That now legendary Breakfast Club appearance has been reinforced by subsequent cringe-worthy clips and Democrats are unnerved.
My reliable sources tell me Democrats believe this is a low-single digit race with four months left to go. Republicans concur.
The RGA has yet to announce a similar investment of its own. November may now turn on the willingness – or reluctance – of national Republicans to reinforce Jack Ciattarelli’s flanks. Ciattarelli was left hanging in 2021 due in part to inaccurate public polling predicting a much less competitive race than it ultimately turned out to be. We’ll soon see if 2025 is difference…
