Republicans got their rears handed to them across multiple states on Tuesday, Save Jerseyans, and New Jersey was sadly no exception.
Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill’s lead stands at 13-points with 95% reporting. While no public polling ever showed Ciattarelli ahead, the RCP average pointed to only a 3%+ loss for Ciattarelli.
Unlike 2021 when Jack fell short by only 2.8-points, the Democrats is the one who had coattails this time around.
As of Midnight on Wednesday, Democrats appeared to have picked up at least five Assembly seats: one in LD8, one in LD2, both in LD21 and one in deep red LD26. A couple of others remain unresolved as of this hour. A five seat loss would drop Republicans down to 23 seats and give Democrats a veto proof majority that’s the largest they’ve enjoyed in decades.
Meanwhile, Ciattarelli lost several counties carried by Donald Trump last fall: Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester, Passaic, and Morris counties.
