Sherrill is (already) helping take New Jersey to a very dark place

By Matt Rooney

Sorry to be a buzzkill on Black Friday, Save Jerseyans, but here we are!

Don’t blame me; the fault lies with our Governor-elect and her increasingly seditionist political party. The irony shouldn’t be lost on you that, almost exactly 162 years ago, Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation making ‘Thanksgiving’ a national holiday for the first time, calling upon all Americans weathering the malestrom of the Civil War to make the last Thursday of November a day of “Thanksgiving and Praise” to God.

The current political enviroment isn’t quite 1863, but it’s starting to feel like 1853? And the current crop of political leaders (notably Mikie Sherrill) isn’t exactly helping. The Thanksgiving slaying of a 20-year-old National Guardsman in our nation’s capital underscores the peril of the moment.

Let’s reflect upon the first steps of the developing Sherrill Administration as November races to a close, Turkey leftovers are being converted to turkey sandwiches, and the 2025 holiday season begins in earnest:

1. Mikie’s transition team is as far Left as you could possibly imagine. Worse, in fact. And the problems go well beyond ideology. The team includes Biden U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimond, infamous for calling upon Americans to “extinguish” Donald Trump “for good” in the immediate aftermath of the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

2. Sherrill’s rhetoric during and after winning earlier this month has lacked actionable policy specifics but continues to center around costly legal challenges to the Trump Administration. She ran on declaring an affordability “emergency,” but it seems the top priority of Mikie Sherrill’s not-yet-named attorney general will be to sue the president with our tax dollars.

3. Sherrill recently told Jon Stewart that New Jersey withholding federal income tax payments would be a “great idea.” Of course, there’s no mechanism for doing so since the feds garnish federal income taxes directly from your paycheck. Mikie is notoriously dense, but even she presumably knows that. Again, ironically, the first federal income tax was instituted in 1862 to fund the Union Army. So what gives? Sherrill and her fellow Democrats are willingly taking us to a very dark place in the interest of winning elections by whipping their base into a feverish frenzy. They don’t seem to care about the dire consequences… an increasingly (I would say dangerously) disunited states of America at a time when we can ill afford it.

I didn’t think it was possible for a New Jersey governor to do more harm than Phil Murphy, the guy who said the Bill of Rights was “above his paygrade” amid the Covid lockdowns.

Sherrill is on her way to being worse and we’re still two months from her assuming office.
